A message from Ms. Legge
I've been trying to think of the best way for me to connect with you during this challenging time. I wanted to start by saying that I am thinking of you all. I know that this time is challenging for everyone, and knowing that please remember to be kind to yourself and your families. Everyone is simply doing the best they can right now.
I've been finding a bit of peace in reading and getting outside for log runs. I've always wanted to learn watercolours, and now seemed as good a time as any! I hope you are all finding ways to learn new things and express yourselves. If it feels good, try that thing you have always wanted to, learn that dance or Facetime someone you're missing.
No matter what happens, be proud of yourself and your resilience. This is new and hard and you are finding a way. I am proud of each and every one of you.

More resources to support you
The Western Quebec School Board is putting together resources to support student who wish to continue to develop their learning during this time. You can check out those resources here: https://westernquebec.ca/backpack/
Your teachers at Symmes are also working hard to find new ways to support you from home. In the coming days and weeks there will be more resources available to you. For now, please visit our Grade 7 English Symmes Backpack for writing prompts and other resources.

Ways to Connect:
FlipGrid: https://flipgrid.com/legge2572
FlipGrid is an online discussion tool where you can post videos and share with others in your group. Similarly to when we used Flipgrip in the classroom, I have created a space for us to connect here. The goal is to talk and share about reading and writing while we are away from school. I will be regularly updating the topics and content so please check back frequently for new discussions! Share with your classmates and teacher and have fun!
Virtual Book Club: https://bookclubz.com/clubs/11807/join/ea3feb/
Before we left school we were just starting our book club unit (Literature circles), if you wish to continue with the unit for your own learning you will find the links to the audiobooks and all of the questions on the Symmes Grade 7 Backpack.
However, I wanted to create and opinion reading activity where we can read and discuss together. The link above will take you to a website where you can join my virtual book club. Take a look at the polls tab and cast your vote for which book you would like us to do first and what meeting times you are available. My hope is to get this up and running next week!
If you wish to participate in Ms.Legge's book-club all materials will be provided. The three book choices all have free audiobooks available on youtube and I have a downloadable PDF ebook version I will share.
